A STRANGE TALE OF RIP VAN WINKLE
Once upon a time there was a farmer called Rip van Winkle. He lived in a village in the mountains with his wife and two young children, a daughter and a son. Rip was a very happy and kind man and he got on very well with all the children in the village. They loved him because he played games with them and often told them stories.
He spent a lot of time in the village inn because he was, in fact, a very lazy man. Rip was happy to do just enough work to live. Instead of working on his farm, he would go fishing and hunting or sit in the village inn talking to his friends. His family was very poor and he always argued with his wife. One day after a big argument Rip went to the forest and came to a beautiful valley, high in the mountains. Suddenly he heard a strange voice calling his name. An old man, dressed in old fashioned clothes, was trying to carry a barrel and asked Rip to help him. Rip agreed. They took the barrel to a cave, where there were more people dressed in the same strange clothes. After that the old man gave Rip a drink from the barrel. Rip immediately fell into a deep sleep.
Some time later he woke up under a tree in the same valley. He was alone. He was worried about his dog and he knew he was going to get into more trouble with his wife. Then he noticed a curious thing – hair was over his shoulders and his beard was over a foot long! Rip couldn't understand what had happened. He decided to get back to the village. As soon as he got there, he realized that everything was different, and there were lots of new houses. The people in the village stared at him with his long hair and beard and old clothes. Rip thought their clothes were strange and he didn't recognize anybody at all.
When he got to his house, he saw that it was old and abandoned. He went to the center of the village and everything there had changed completely. The old inn was now called the Union Hotel. Before he went in, he listened at the window. The people were talking about things he hadn't heard of – the elections, the president, the war. Rip went in and described his wife, family and asked people where they were. It turned out that his wife had died two years ago and all of his friends had either died or left the village. But his children were still there! They pointed to a young man sleeping under a tree. Rip realized it was his son! Then a young woman carrying a baby came up to him. It was his daughter!
In the end, Rip went to live with his daughter. He still didn't do much work. He spent the time as before, fishing, hunting and telling stories to children outside the village inn. He told stories about life before the war, how he had met some strange people in the mountains – and how he had gone to sleep for twenty years!

We suppose the typical teenager problem is drug-habit. Some young man use drugs, because they think that will be cool guys. But they don’t understand that it’s wrong. Some of them can’t stop that, and they become dependent on drugs. And they commit different serious crimes, because they need some money to buy drugs.

Experimentation with alcohol and drugs during adolescence is common. Unfortunately, teenagers often don't see the link between their actions today and the consequences tomorrow. They also have a tendency to feel indestructible and immune to the problems that others experience.
We should say that using alcohol and tobacco at a young age has negative health effects. While some teens will experiment and stop, or continue to use occasionally, without significant problems. Others will develop a dependency, moving on to more dangerous drugs and causing significant harm to themselves and possibly others. It is difficult to know which teens will experiment and stop and which will develop serious problems.
We have come to the conclusion that teenagers abuse a variety of drugs, both legal and illegal. Legally available drugs include alcohol, prescribed medications, inhalants (fumes from glues, aerosols, and solvents) and over-the-counter cough, cold, sleep, and diet medications. The use of tobacco and alcohol in high school has become common.

National Parks of Ukraine
There are many national parks in Ukraine including Carpathian National Nature Park, Holosiivskyi National Nature Park, Hutsulshchyna National Park, and Podilski Tovtry National Nature Park.

Carpathian National Nature Park
Established on June 3rd, 1980 is Carpathian National Nature Park whose primary goal was to protect the Carpathian Mountains landscape. Carpathian National Nature Park is the biggest park in Ukraine. The landscape of the park consists meadows and forests. Spruce, silver fir, and the European beech are the Park's most common tree species. The park also has the highest single drop waterfall in Ukraine's Carpathians with a height of 276 feet. The Park's original inhabitants were the hutsuls it also has some architecture and historical monuments including wooden buildings. The park is actively used for tourism and has 48 functioning trails. Carpathian National Nature Park covers an area of 199 square miles.
Holosiivskyi National Nature Park
Located on the Kiev hills, in the province of Dniester-Dnieper forest-steppe is Holosiivskyi National Nature Park. The Park's landscape includes a significant biodiverse land, lakes, and wetlands. There are also great cultural, ethnographic, and historical monuments which are an important aspect of the scientific research, monitoring, and conservation of the park. The Park's flora include 118 species of Moss, 650 species of vascular plants and more than 60 species of fungi while its fauna includes 181 species of vertebrates and 190 species of insects. Holosiivskyi National Nature Park's main attractions are the Holy Protection Monastery and the Holy Trinity Monastery. The park covers an area of 17 square miles.
Podilski Tovtry National Nature Park
Located in the districts of Horodok, Kamianets-Podilskyi and the Chemerivtsi Raions in the province of Khmelnytskyi Oblast of the western Ukraine region is the Podilski Tovtry National Nature Park. The park was established on July 27th, 1996 by then President of Ukraine Leonid Kuchma for purposes of maintaining and protecting the natural landscape of the area. There are 1700 types of flora and 217 different kinds of fauna with over 13% accumulative farm forest and 14% of state forest fund. Podilski Tovtry National Nature Park is the biggest nature reserve in Ukraine covering an area of 1,009 square miles.

There are five simple ways for your family to lead a healthy lifestyle and get back on track:
1. Get active each day
·         Regular physical activity is important for the healthy growth, development and well-being of children and young people.
·         They should get at least 60 minutes of physical activity every day, including vigorous activities that make them ‘huff and puff’.
·         Include activities that strengthen muscles and bones on at least 3 days of the week.
·         Parents should be good role models and have a positive attitude to being active.
2. Choose water as a drink
·         Water is the best way to quench your thirst – and it doesn’t come with the added sugar found in fruit juices, soft drinks and other sweetened drinks.
·         Reduced fat milk for children over two is a nutritious drink and a great source of calcium.
·         Give kids whole fruit to eat, rather than offering fruit juices that have a lot of sugar.
3. Eat more fruit and vegetables
·         Eating fruit and vegetables every day helps children grow and develop, boosts their vitality and can reduce the risk of many chronic diseases.
·         Aim to eat two serves of fruit and five serves of vegetables every day.
·         Have fresh fruit available as a convenient snack and try to include fruit and vegies in every meal.
4. Switch off the screen and get active
·         Sedentary or ‘still’ time spent watching TV, surfing online or playing computer games is linked to kids becoming overweight or obese.
·         Children and young people should spend no more than two hours a day on ‘small screen’ entertainment. Break up long periods of use as often as possible.
·         Plan a range of active indoor and outdoor games or activities for your children, as alternatives to watching TV or playing on the computer.
5. Eat fewer snacks and select healthier alternatives
·         Healthy snacks help children and young people meet their daily nutritional needs.
·         Snacks based on fruit and vegetables, reduced fat dairy products and whole grains are the healthiest choices.
·         Avoid snacks that are high in sugar or saturated fats – such as chips, cakes and chocolate – which can cause children to put on excess weight.

We suppose the typical teenager problem is drug-habit. Some young man use drugs, because they think that will be cool guys. But they don’t understand that it’s wrong. Some of them can’t stop that, and they become dependent on drugs. And they commit different serious crimes, because they need some money to buy drugs.

Experimentation with alcohol and drugs during adolescence is common. Unfortunately, teenagers often don't see the link between their actions today and the consequences tomorrow. They also have a tendency to feel indestructible and immune to the problems that others experience.
We should say that using alcohol and tobacco at a young age has negative health effects. While some teens will experiment and stop, or continue to use occasionally, without significant problems. Others will develop a dependency, moving on to more dangerous drugs and causing significant harm to themselves and possibly others. It is difficult to know which teens will experiment and stop and which will develop serious problems.
We have come to the conclusion that teenagers abuse a variety of drugs, both legal and illegal. Legally available drugs include alcohol, prescribed medications, inhalants (fumes from glues, aerosols, and solvents) and over-the-counter cough, cold, sleep, and diet medications. The use of tobacco and alcohol in high school has become common.

National Parks of Ukraine
There are many national parks in Ukraine including Carpathian National Nature Park, Holosiivskyi National Nature Park, Hutsulshchyna National Park, and Podilski Tovtry National Nature Park.

Carpathian National Nature Park
Established on June 3rd, 1980 is Carpathian National Nature Park whose primary goal was to protect the Carpathian Mountains landscape. Carpathian National Nature Park is the biggest park in Ukraine. The landscape of the park consists meadows and forests. Spruce, silver fir, and the European beech are the Park's most common tree species. The park also has the highest single drop waterfall in Ukraine's Carpathians with a height of 276 feet. The Park's original inhabitants were the hutsuls it also has some architecture and historical monuments including wooden buildings. The park is actively used for tourism and has 48 functioning trails. Carpathian National Nature Park covers an area of 199 square miles.
Holosiivskyi National Nature Park
Located on the Kiev hills, in the province of Dniester-Dnieper forest-steppe is Holosiivskyi National Nature Park. The Park's landscape includes a significant biodiverse land, lakes, and wetlands. There are also great cultural, ethnographic, and historical monuments which are an important aspect of the scientific research, monitoring, and conservation of the park. The Park's flora include 118 species of Moss, 650 species of vascular plants and more than 60 species of fungi while its fauna includes 181 species of vertebrates and 190 species of insects. Holosiivskyi National Nature Park's main attractions are the Holy Protection Monastery and the Holy Trinity Monastery. The park covers an area of 17 square miles.
Podilski Tovtry National Nature Park
Located in the districts of Horodok, Kamianets-Podilskyi and the Chemerivtsi Raions in the province of Khmelnytskyi Oblast of the western Ukraine region is the Podilski Tovtry National Nature Park. The park was established on July 27th, 1996 by then President of Ukraine Leonid Kuchma for purposes of maintaining and protecting the natural landscape of the area. There are 1700 types of flora and 217 different kinds of fauna with over 13% accumulative farm forest and 14% of state forest fund. Podilski Tovtry National Nature Park is the biggest nature reserve in Ukraine covering an area of 1,009 square miles.

We suppose the typical teenager problem is drug-habit. Some young man use drugs, because they think that will be cool guys. But they don’t understand that it’s wrong. Some of them can’t stop that, and they become dependent on drugs. And they commit different serious crimes, because they need some money to buy drugs.
Experimentation with alcohol and drugs during adolescence is common. Unfortunately, teenagers often don't see the link between their actions today and the consequences tomorrow. They also have a tendency to feel indestructible and immune to the problems that others experience.
We should say that using alcohol and tobacco at a young age has negative health effects. While some teens will experiment and stop, or continue to use occasionally, without significant problems. Others will develop a dependency, moving on to more dangerous drugs and causing significant harm to themselves and possibly others. It is difficult to know which teens will experiment and stop and which will develop serious problems.
We have come to the conclusion that teenagers abuse a variety of drugs, both legal and illegal. Legally available drugs include alcohol, prescribed medications, inhalants (fumes from glues, aerosols, and solvents) and over-the-counter cough, cold, sleep, and diet medications. The use of tobacco and alcohol in high school has become common.

The Invention of Umbrella
   It seems so natural to put up an umbrella to keep the water off when it rains. But the umbrella was not invented for protection against rain. Its first use was to protect people against the sun. Nobody knows who first invented it, but the umbrella was used in very ancient times. The first people to use it were probably the Chinese is the eleventh century B.C.!     Umbrellas have not changed much in style during all this time, though they have become much lighter in weight. It wasn't until the twentieth century that women' s umbrellas began to be made in different colours.

Our Vocational Lyceum

When you enter the hall of our Vocational lyceum you can see the time-table on the wall. There are always many students standing near the time-table.

Our time-table includes obligatory and optional subjects.
In the first year all the students of our Vocational lyceum study the same general educational subjects such as Ukrainian Literature, Physics, Mathematics, Chemistry and History of Ukraine.
The students also begin to study special subjects. We have lectures, tutorials and do laboratory works. The time-table includes subjects and number of the room for each day of the week.
Near the time-table there is an advertisement board, where we can find some additional information.

National Parks of Ukraine

There are many national parks in Ukraine including Carpathian National Nature Park, Holosiivskyi National Nature Park, Hutsulshchyna National Park, and Podilski Tovtry National Nature Park.

Carpathian National Nature Park

Established on June 3rd, 1980 is Carpathian National Nature Park whose primary goal was to protect the Carpathian Mountains landscape. Carpathian National Nature Park is the biggest park in Ukraine. The landscape of the park consists meadows and forests. Spruce, silver fir, and the European beech are the Park's most common tree species. The park also has the highest single drop waterfall in Ukraine's Carpathians with a height of 276 feet. The Park's original inhabitants were the hutsuls it also has some architecture and historical monuments including wooden buildings. The park is actively used for tourism and has 48 functioning trails. Carpathian National Nature Park covers an area of 199 square miles.

Holosiivskyi National Nature Park

Located on the Kiev hills, in the province of Dniester-Dnieper forest-steppe is Holosiivskyi National Nature Park. The Park's landscape includes a significant biodiverse land, lakes, and wetlands. There are also great cultural, ethnographic, and historical monuments which are an important aspect of the scientific research, monitoring, and conservation of the park. The Park's flora include 118 species of Moss, 650 species of vascular plants and more than 60 species of fungi while its fauna includes 181 species of vertebrates and 190 species of insects. Holosiivskyi National Nature Park's main attractions are the Holy Protection Monastery and the Holy Trinity Monastery. The park covers an area of 17 square miles.

Podilski Tovtry National Nature Park

Located in the districts of Horodok, Kamianets-Podilskyi and the Chemerivtsi Raions in the province of Khmelnytskyi Oblast of the western Ukraine region is the Podilski Tovtry National Nature Park. The park was established on July 27th, 1996 by then President of Ukraine Leonid Kuchma for purposes of maintaining and protecting the natural landscape of the area. There are 1700 types of flora and 217 different kinds of fauna with over 13% accumulative farm forest and 14% of state forest fund. Podilski Tovtry National Nature Park is the biggest nature reserve in Ukraine covering an area of 1,009 square miles.
